Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I don't think that it would be much different from running the flexbone with the QB under the center, we run the veer out of the shotgun. Would it just be the adjustment with the formations you wanted to use? Try the flexbone internet sight to see if anyone else is doing it. We will add the pistol to our offense this year.
I think this makes quite a bit of sense...the only question I would have is "Is the diveback mesh going to be as effective?" If you can hit the option as quickly, I think this could be quite effective.

The Flexbone with a pistol backfield works fine I have experience with this formation because we run it from our doubles formation and it works and times out well. Coach Campbell
I agree with Coach Campbell that the pistol and the veer out of this formation would be very good together. You can time it out so you do not have to put the pitchback in motion. You could also false key and run a trap backside off the veer look.
We ran almost exclusively out of a spread flexbone pistol look. We are almost always in some type of wing formation. Our QB and FB alignment were tighter than normal to maintain the FB mesh. QB at 3.5yd, FB at 6yds. Allowed us to run a mix of spread passing concept and flexbone runs. Was pretty effective. Was our first year to do this, so learned alot.

we run a flexbone gun style of offense such as the pistol and went 12-1 this season averaged 43 points a game plus 473 yards a game. Very effective offense. Coach Campbell

Sounds like a good thing to try at the school I'm looking to help at next spring. Did the gun look change anything? Did the defenses look at you the same as if you'd been under center?
