Kicking and Punting Tryouts
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is a summary of the various leagues and their tryout information...
National Football League (32 teams) - Good Luck! There are no tryouts. In the spring time, the NFL Free Agent Camp, put on by Louie Aguiar and Michael Husted, where NFL special teams coaches can attend and scout talent. Camp dates available on website: Louie Aguiar's NFL Free Agent Camp. There is also a NFL invitational camp put on by Paul Assad. Camp dates available on website: Paul Assad's Pro College Football
Arena Football League (16 teams) - Season began in mid April. Look for tryout information as early as September-December. Each team usually runs their own tryouts. Many will charge a tryout fee of $25-$40 per person.
Arena Football 2 League (34 teams) - Season began in early April. Look for tryout information as early as November and December of 2002. Each team usually runs their own tryouts. Atlantic Indoor Football League - new indoor football league
NFL Europe League (6 teams) - There is a tryout camp that occurs in Jan-Feb of each year where they cut down the numbers and assign players to each team, but it is invitation only. Most of the players on the teams are either assigned to the league by the NFL team they are signed with at the time, are selected by the NFLE coaches based on their skill or prior experience with them, or a national player from that country. The typical player is someone who has previously signed with an NFL team and whom that team (or any other) feels has potential to make it in the NFL, but just need some more experience.
Canadian Football League (9 teams) - Season begins in summer time. Tryouts are over for this year, and typically occur from February to April each year. Most teams hold their own tryouts and may charge a tryout fee. Visit the CFL website and click on the team links for the tryout information for that team.
Semi Pro Football (100's of teams) - Another great place to get experience or keep active. Most seasons run during the summer and fall seasons. Tryouts will be going on throughout the spring and summer all over the country. Here is a popular site to check out. NAFL (North American Football League)
