Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Both defenders need to recognize what is happening and need to communicate with each other. This can't be a "you call it every time" type of rule, in my opinion. Distance is going to depend on your alignment--you're worried about rubs here; if you're corner and spur, for instance, are not at or near the same depth there should not be much of a problem, but if they are then you have to make that adjustment. Against a bunch, or even trips, I would play zone to that side. With two WR's (and you don't feel you have the ability to play man to man or normal coverage), play a high/low C-2 with your spur and Corner or corner and free; vs. a trips play a C-3 to that side.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
When receivers are aligned 5yds are closer, a me you call needs to be made. T:beer;he inside defender will take any route breaking inside(before 5 yds), and the defender on the perimeter will take any route coming to him. Versus a bunch set, you would have a defender responsible for in/out and vertical.

I stay in man to man and jam the hell out of that middle reciever assuming hes on the line in bunch. Put a hole right through his chest. Defend them in levels so you dont get picked.
