Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
What do you 50 guys do when you face the wing-t? Slant and angle or just play your base front. I will probably use some 43 lightning but I am, looking for other information also.
If you look at your opponent on film, you will find tendencies. Wing-T is notorious for showing keys. The trick is to align correctly, quickly, and find those keys immediately. If you study up, you can damn-near call out their plays. My play concern for a wing-T is #1--Trap, #2 Buck Sweep, #3 Belly/down, #4 Waggle. Kill the trap, find the sweep, and everything else becomes easier.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
There are a few things you can do as some have already pointed out.
Some old 50 front Stalwarts against a Wing-T are. (T-N-T only)
Slant to Wing
Slant to Strength
Slant to TE
Slant to Motion
Your DE's are contain. The biggest difference between OLD School and Today is the Boxing End. Forget that tactic unless your DE can handle a trapping guard or a lead block from a back. He has to understand to look for that if the OT, TE or Wing doesnt confront him. These days your DE's need to learn to "Squeeze" C Gap and still maintain outside leverage. That means he has to anchor the LOS and still be able to come off the TE or OT to string the play out.
Keys:
The easiest key. Watch the Wing...a lot of wing teams "forget" to put him in motion unless he is getting the ball.
There are a lot of versions out there so each is a bit different in blocking some pull guards, others trap them.
TE's make sure they dont release freely. (5-3 Especially)
Put the importance on penetration to the heels of the OL. The Wing is not a deep formation backfield, in order to be effective it has to hit the line FAST so the FB is no more than 3.5 yards deep with the TB at 4. If you can get behind the LOS, one adult step, your way ahead. In a traditional Wing, the QB does all of his fakes directly behind the line. Get in his space and it can spoil the timing, spoil the timing, spoil the wing.
Just My Opinion
Its not about how much YOU know about the game, its about how much you share that knowledge with the people around you.
D/END (Wing Side) = line up in gap between TE/WB. Go on snap - come hard on angle for FB. 1. Key FB & if he comes at you (Power Play) - wrong arm him & blow FB up about 3 yds behind LOS. 2. If FB goes away look for block of onside pulling Guard on sweep (get right on him).
D/END (away from Wing): Go on snap - come hard on angle for TB. 1. Key QB on waggle - TB goes away & G's come to you = WAGGLE. 2. TB goes away & G's go away = run play down from backside.
TNT = base fundamentals (Tackles = 4 technique & Nose = 0 technique).
LBers = Base 30 tech (key Guards). If you read Guards pull on Waggle you can blitz the gap (TE/WB right & G's pull left, & vice-versa).
S/S (Cover 0) covers WB, & S/C covers TE. If WB blocks DE - S/S must squeeze contain (tough). S/C fills also if TE blocks down. If WB motions away - you now cover FB.
F/S (Cover 0) = M/M on TB. If TB goes away - pick up FB (waggle, etc.)
The alignment Oneback diagrams is almost the exact we did things. Only difference we we brought our weakside DE down to outside shade on the G because we were shifting a 44 down, and that was a DT.

Your Nose is going to be a busy man......with lots of friends trying to move him. The reason for the 4 tech and not double 3's? I think I know, but am curious to hear your reasoning Coach.

You can also shade your front where your D line man are almost covering the guards (kick your nose strong, reduce ont he bakcside. In my experience covering the guards on a wing T team drives the opponents offensive coordinator nuts, because you extremely limit their ability to pull.

In theory, Coadh Mountjoy's material is doing same without actually showing it. Hence ny question regardin the 4 tech vs double 3 tech. He is hiding it where a 3 tech is showing them. Given my druthers I would hide it, depending on age group, experience, and opponent

It can be done either way. It is my feeling that if you BASE out of a 5-2 Okie, a stout 4 technique (playing 5 tech. responsibility, with his helmet in the C gap) holds up better OFF-TACKLE than a 3.
I (vs. the run) first & foremost want to be tough off-tackle!
