Okay, I dont post often but I have a question. Really maybe Im just venting but Id like to know if it is just me.
I am a second year coach so im still a little green but I am a DC and Asst.HC for a middle school team.
We had a parent who helped with equip last year and he is back to help again this year. He came in in the summer time to help some becaue we have 40+ kids it was appreciated. The HC likes his help but can become a little annoyed with him as well.
Anyhow. He worked with our Varsity guy with the Oline (which is the HC's resp) some this summer. He works the boys like we are Junction boys. Hollering and all. He is about 20 yrs my senior. Anyhow I workwith the backs and QBs as well.
This guy has been taking our simple play book and installing plays as we go just adding random stuff making our off tackle plays, counters (we already have counters in the book) etc. My RBs look at me confused and wondering what hes talking about. He talks rough with me even in front of the kids and the HC knows it and does nothing about it. He is supposed to run the scout team while the #1 O is on the field and he tries telling me and the other coaches, including the HC, to get it he has to run his Oline and cant do it.
Somehow somewhere he has made the jump from parent helping to full blown OC and it is driving me and the WR/DB coach (who is the OC) nuts.
The HC acts like its nothing but the kids can tell there is something going on with the coaches. It also would be different if he knew what he was talking about but the guy is not really with it . He approaches me as we head into our scrimmage with a another "new" play he just taught the oline and wants to run it. What kills me is this had been a losing program and the Varsity HC brought me in here this year to help clean it up. We have the talent to be the first winning program out of the MS.
In short, the guy is out of control.
Now, maybe your laughing at me, whatever ,but I do not want the kids to suffer from all this indecision.
What do you think(besides that I have nothing else to do but post a long message venting)
