Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Working with idea of playing robber vs Wing T. Heavy run to pass. (90/10).
We have been working with 7 man fronts but are trying to get extra man(or 2 w/ 8 man) in box with robber. Buck,Belly, and Down.Would welcome input.
Just thinking about this myself. We are a cover 3 team that has absolutely no F/S. Have tried all of our DB's and they all suck at coming up and tackling someone.....We play a Wing T team this next week and thinking about putting my best lb at safety in the robber. We are running the 3-5
Robber can be very good from an 8 man front (top get 9 in trhe box) vs. traditional Wing-0T offenses. So can straight Cover 0 with F/S playing as a "ROBBER".
Any QUESTIONS - phone me at 804-378-0116 up to 8 PM/EASTERN.
I agree with Coach Mountjoy--fill the box, and make the team do the 10% of their gameplan. Robber is great if your CB's can cover halves, but I'd probably take the cover 0 approach. Also, look closely for the cues of the offense. Every wing-T I have ever coached against has give-aways. They will align someone a step deeper or wider, or only will run certain things from certain formations. The clues are there, look at the film very closely. A DC I worked with years ago had his kids so tuned into those keys that they were calling out the offense's plays before they ran them. They knew that, at worst, the play was one of two likely possibilities.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
Robber all game against 2 back Wing T.
FS reads #2 and plays him M/M if pass
FS reads #2 and becomes ally player if #2 blocks down or pulls when they run XX.
FS is not in their blocking scheme and should have a ton of tackles.
FS robs TE or slot #2 which is the drag in waggle. They can't flood the zone.
Corners play half field but it really ends up being M/M.
Cover 1 v 1 back. Single back we start in Cover 1 then check to robber with Jet, Rocket, Fade motion.
OLB's play Jet or Rocket mo M/M, FS plays TE or slot, and Corners play #1's.
Real easy!! kids like it, and we play it all game without any blitzing. Too many down blocks and trapping in WT. WE DO like to send the OLB set TOO the back set or where the motion starts in hopes of blasting the QB when they try to run waggle. Scouting tendency all WT teams have. They are VERY methodical in their play calls and D/D and field position dictate what they want to run. So with a little film work, you can give their QB a day worth forgetting.
WT is always looking for angles so they can make their down blocks. Gap, man-on, near LB is base WT blocking rules. Stemming is fun and good but Guard Trap will kill you if your kids are not set at the snap. We teach reacting to the OL and bend and spill EVERYTHING.
The entire line and the 2 inside LB spill everything to the OLB's and the FS.
Corners play #1 M/M and Kill them with the concept of not getting caught watching the paint dry.
