Okie Dog Pinch trouble getting to Q

Greenough: 2 things will solve that problem (in ODP):

#1 = If TE split LESS than 1 yd (Triple Option teams NORMALLY take OVER a YARD SPLIT) play a BASE 6 TECHNIQUE keying TE's helmet - closing down IF TE blocks down - off his butt behind him - rather than going thru the C gap in front of him first where he has a shot at you. NOTE: We NEVER had problems IF TE split 1 yd or more - 6 tech moved on snap of ball on sharp angle off hip of OT aiming for QB/FB mesh point & beat the TE's down block.

#2 = use as a change up a great "exchange" stunt where widest rusher (aligned about 2 yds. outside TE) comes down flat off the butt of TE to QB, & 6 technique loops out behind him to pitch.

Using the above - we NEVER lost a game (from 1974 thru 2001) where we ran ODP vs. a full backfield Triple Option team!!!!!!! No one has USED a full backfield option attack vs. us since then (we now get FLEXBONE).

IMPORTANT: Also - 6 tech was NOT ALONE on QB - if TE blocked the 6, the DB who was lined up 7-8 yds deep on TE filled on QB at the LOS like our F/S would in our "ROBBER" technique! In ADDITION - if near back attacked 6 tech - ILB scrapes & helps 6 tech. with his assignment (ILB mirrors near back).

In CASE diagram shifts - both E's, T's, & Nose are HEAD UP:



Both Safeties shoot for hip of near back. Force "squeeze contain" D gap/pass rush. NO pass resp.



Both E's crash inside off hip of OT's.
