Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We play a 50 front with alot of cover 2. I would like to mix cover 4 with our cover 2. What are the concepts, teaching methods, and reads for cover 4. Any info would be appreciated.
I just got back from a clinic with Coach Deleon from Syracuse and one of the topics was the 1/4 coverage. He said that he aligns his safties at 8 yds depth and has his corners play man to man vs the #1 reciever their side. Great vs the run b/c you have 9 men in the box. Let me look at my notes and I can give you more details as to what coach deleon said. I'll get back to you.
Looking at my notes from coach Deleon- he stated that this defense is a good against a 2 back run and pass game. FS and SS align 8 yards deep and one yard outside the last man on LOS...they read the last man on the LOS. When the ball is snapped they bounce (literally a hop) If they read run the come downhill, against option they have pitch, against pass they backpedal. The corners are in press coverage and playing man to man. The outside LB's (Sam and Will) have flat. Hope this helped you a little.
