Coach with ride and decide and mesh problems one thing you can do to correct this is to make sure as the Fullback goes through the mesh is to ask him to show his jersey numbers to the linebackers as he works over the front hip and knee of the QB. Coach Campbell
Another point I always stress to my backs as they come through the mesh is that their bottom hand should be flat like a shelf--they are not taking a handoff, they are merely giving a pocket. Once they feel the QB hand release the ball, all they have to do is cup the point of the ball and they're off.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
We went to the point method this spring and we kept our same footwork for the ride and decide. We use the Georgia hop step we got from Georgia Southern when Paul Johnson was there - basically we flip our hips to the sideline with the toes to the sideline and the back foot staggered toe heel with the front leg so we lay the track for the FB. We use the midline to help our QB's to feel that their back heel should be just off the midline when they get their feet set. We teach our QB to get their feet set as quick as possible and this is why is looks like a hop. Really though the back foot comes down before the front foot so it is just two really quick steps.
