Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I am interviewing for an offensive coordinator position and looking for some advice.
What are some typical questions asked?
What should I take with me? I have my playbook downloaded to my laptop, should I take it with me? Or is this something that should take place down the road?
Know some drills that each position will need to be successful in your schemes. Have a few playbooks ready to pass around. Show them a copy of a sample call sheet that you might use in a game. Know what the coach likes to do, if possible. Have no doubt on what you want to see (ideally) for each position in terms of skills, leadership, etc.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
I had the interview and thought it went great. I brought along my playbook, drills, scouting reports and call sheets that I have used in the past.
Here are a couple questions that I was asked-
1. What is the most important quality of an assistant coach? I said to be loyal to the HC.
2. What do you want to accomplish on 1st down? My answer was to gain positive yards. If you do not gain good yardage on 1st and 2nd down and end up with a 3rd and 6+ the defense has the upper hand.
I'm curious to know how others would answer these questions.
A couple other questions that I would like your thoughts on.
1. The coach said that we would meet again and asked if he could hold on to my playbook to look through, which I did. Would anyone else have done this??
2. This will be his 2nd yr at this school, the previous OC just left to take a HC position; so he would like to stay with the same offense including the terminology etc. I am open to this because it is similar to what I would run and in my opinion it is easier for one person to learn something than to teach 50/60. However I would like to start to introduce my on terminology, plays and route concepts over time.

Yes, I'd let him have the playbook and talk about incorporating the offense that you run or at least bits and pieces that relate to the current offense.
Having the O coordinator struggle through learning a new offense might cause you to loose some of the kids that have ran it for three years.

VikingCountry indeed I agree with you this will also cause fewer problems between the head coach and coordinator as well. especially if there is a system in place.
I was informed about a month ago that the job was between me and another guy. However, the other guy had a chance to get a teaching job in the building, but the HC wouldn't know for a couple more weeks, so I took a job at another school.
Irish56... I think you may have done the right thing.. waiting on someone is a horrible feeling... especially knowing that the other guy has a upper hand by teaching at the school. I would have taken the job also. Good Luck.
