For this comparison I used a packet of the Myoplex Original Nutrition Shake mixture, chocolate creme flavor and the Muscle Milk non-collegiate mixture, chocolate flavor.
Calories;
Muscle Milk - 300
Myoplex 280
Fat (total/saturated);
Muscle Milk - 12/6
Myoplex - 3/1
Cholesterol (not generally a huge concern for HS/Collegiate athletes but worth noting due to impact of family history on potential health risk);
Muscle Milk - 15mg
Myoplex - 50mg
Carbs/sugar;
Muscle Milk - 16/4
Myoplex - 23/2
Protein;
Muscle Milk - 32g
Myoplex - 42g
Vitamin & mineral content;
Myoplex > Muscle Milk, Myoplex generally contained 15-35% more of each vitamin/mineral listed.
Those are the facts, now for some opinion. I would like to preface this by saying I have an affiliation with both companies through my job in professional sports, each provides me discounted product but I do not gain/lose anything by the sale of their products.
In my opinion, while (other than the cholesterol content) Myoplex rates as the more nutritional of the 2 Muscle Milks choice of flavor and taste trump those of Myoplex (probably due to the higher fat content) and it's really not even close. Neither taste bad but Muscle Milk offers a wide variety of choices which help to avoid stagnation over time. Their chocolate also has a much "richer" flavor. Over the years I've gotten burnt out on Myoplex, in fact, I personally prefer EAS's 100% Whey Protein Powder over their Myoplex shakes at this point in time. Again, this is my opinion, both are great products and you should try both out to see which you prefer, I've listed the relevant nutritional content above as a reference point.
