Greetings love the site. I have played in a lot of different offenses and different ideas. College to arena. That to me is how to get knowledge for teaching and mastering the craft of coaching. Question. I have been helping with some Minor League football teams the last few years , yes I know some are just garbage tavern leagues but some teams are just outstanding from ownership to the waterboy. I have been blessed to have coach on very good teams with college players and some D1 talent. My passing tree starts at #2 and goes up and the longer the route the larger the #. I will have other routes such as a jerk route, Poco, T route basically a swirl totalling 25. If not # I will say the route. If the play is a bread and butter play or more verbage, I will say the formation and then one word. I will say EX: Split Rt quik slide 5 5 5. Or split rt quik slide 2,T, 2 . Bunch rt Colorado or Xavier. Appropriate routes. I have never had a problem until this season and the team does'nt get it and they have a 9 route passing tree and that is it.No double move routes at either. Not one of these players played even much in high school. They say my tree is to hard and is wrong because it does not go odds or evens. I explain and they have elected to only run a passing tree I actually used 15 years ago. I'm a nut for a coach or just asking too much from them. I actually pride myself in teaching the why's and how's of the plays and I'm very technique sound. My parents were educators so it might have rubbed off. Any coach can state the obvious and then not answer any question.
