Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
A local school is starting a football team for the first time. It is an older public school, not sure why they have never had football in the past. They will start with middle school and JV teams in 2011 and varsity in 2012.
I am looking for any advice on interviewing for this position. Has anyone started a program from scratch? This is totally different than walking into an exixting program. Would you recomend I come in with info on uniforms, equiptment, etc. Maybe looking for schools that are getting new equiptment and selling their older stuff. Or should that be left for later. I thought it would be a good impression if steps were taken to get some info together.
There is a lot of work to be done, many things to purchase. Not just player equiptment, but head phones, hand sheilds, bags, sleds, so on and so on... I realize that there is a year to get the "kinks" worked out, but in my opinion the first season, whether JV or not, needs to be approached as a varsity team. The kids need to get into that mind set.

Indeed you must start the program with a work ethic and that must be determined. Expectations honest and realistic. Must get the kids to buy in. Coach CAmpbell
I had the first interview this week I felt very confident going in and thought it went very well. AD emailed me today, said they thought the interview went very well and want me to come back next week for the 2nd round.
Not sure how many rounds there are, but what should I expect in this interview? What types of questions, etc.?
I had my 2nd interview last Tuesday and was informed that there are only going to be two rounds. Decision will be made no later than the end of the week.
The 2nd interview was pretty much the same as the 1st, tell us about yourself, how do you handle a parent that is upset about playing time, how is your practice structured etc.
If they are asking the same questions, that tells me that they are pretty green with this, too. I would expect a second round of interviews to probe into new questions or deeper into ones you have already answered. Maybe it did. Good luck, Coach, and if you get this position, be sure that you do what you can to keep administrations' eyes on the big picture as well so that they don't start putting the cart before the horse, so to say.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
However, I received the call tonight that I did not get the job... Disapointed, but I have now interviewed for 3 out of 4 jobs I applied for this year and after making it to the 2nd round on this one I am getting closer. Or at least that's how I am looking at it. One thing for sure is that I am getting use to it and I feel prepared, confortable, and confident going in.
By the way I thought the same thing. I was prepared for different question, but the 2nd round questions were the same questions, but this time it was the principal, and business manager (filling in for the super) and the AD. The 1st round consisted of the AD, Board member, and a player on the last team they had (1949). They were very new to this.
I went to a catholic high school by the name of Roger Bacon, that is down the street from this school, so I knew the area very well and a lot of the community. That's what is disapointing about it, but things happen for a reason.
I had the exact same thing happen with my HC search. Took me a few years and some disappointment, but I finally got myself into a pretty good situation to start my career. I just decided to do everything I could to continue my learning as a coach. Looking back on things, I interviewed for 5 or so jobs before I got my first HC position. Honestly, I am quite glad I didn't get four of those jobs, and the other one of the other ones I now realize that I was not ready for. I'm not someone who believes in destiny, but somethings things happen and it may seem like a negative, but they work themselves out to be for the best.
