Thought I'd share this story and get your input...
Our booster president is the father of one of our 10th graders. The son isn't a terrible player, but probably should have played on JV where he would have started both sides of the ball. I ended up moving him to varsity out of deference to the dad who is an active booster. Mistake #1, I know.
Nevertheless, the kid is not starting through our first few games and is getting limited reps. So the dad begins stopping by practices demanding why his kid isn't starting. He also starts running down the other players he is competing with in practice. I mean calling out specific kids that "suck" and they have no business getting more PT than his kid. He even confronts the kids position coach and has it out with him.
As the season progresses, he starts refusing to pay for things the team needs such as footballs. He is basically using the booster club to stick it to me.
Now, keep in mind we had a very difficult year with injuries and unexpected staff turnover, and our record was not good. One day, this booster dad confronts me after practice, telling me that the team is in disarray, their is no discipline, everyone on the team hates each other, and that my assistants are terrible. Just slamming the program, and my coaching.
The most recent episode is the worst. During off season lifting, his son leaves his iPod in an unlocked locker, and it disappears. The dad finds out about it and comes to the locker room and confronts a kid that he thinks took it. He laid hands on the kid and told him to empty his bag, then challenges him to a fight (the kid didn't have the iPod). All of this was caught on the security camera.
To add insult to injury, the guy hired one of the coaches that I fired prior to the season at his own business.
Keep in mind, this guy is our booster club prez! Any thoughts on this madness?
