Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I have coached Linebackers for two years now. I teach backers to read backs tried to read guards was not successful especially with spread offenses and qb zone read play. We key FB in I formation. One back gun ket the back. Any advice? We do take on guards if they attack our lb's . Down block we attack looking for key. Am I doing this right?
I teach reading through the guards to backfield. I feel that the backfield is where most misdirection happens. The only team you really get any misdirection on the OLine is with wing-t offenses and their false keys. I always tell my guys to play off that guard's butt. So for the first second they're reading, I call it their stimulus and than they respond accordingly. If we get a run stimulus (anything besides high hat) than we find the near back. If we get high hat, than we find and pattern match the nearest threat according to our coverage.
It takes time in the non contact months to really develop the reading abilities, I always am drilling reacting to their stimulus. With 7 on 7's use that time to drill the proper language. I'm constantly telling them that since we're getting high hat what's our response? Who are we matching? It's a great opportunity to develop the communication that you'll be using in the fall.
