Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom

This is a very straightforward X's and O's question for you.
We run a 4-4 defense with single safetu robber coverage similar to what C.W. Post runs. This defense is excellent against 21 personnel and easily adapted to stop Wing T. However, teams in our league now run mostly spread concepts with 10 or 11 personnel.
I don't want to alter our robber rules too much, so how would you guys defend 2x2 and 3x1 spread offenses with a single safety robber coverage?
