I want to sell myself and show the impact I had at one of my coaching stops. However, I do not want to appear to be bad-mouthing the school or appear to be making them look bad.
Here is what I mean:
in 4 years there my positions( OL/DL) produced 13 1st team All State selections and one All American Selection.
In the 3 years since I have left that particular school there have been 0 1st team All State selections on the OL/DL.
In addition, I have done some research and have found out that the average wins while I was a Varsity Assistant/Coordinator was 7.25 wins per year.
Averaging the year before I joined the staff and the 3 most recent years, since I have left: the school has averaged 5.5 wins per year.
Do you think this is worth mentioning or does it sound too much like Im tooting my own horn? Does it sound like I am badmouthing? These are not my intentions. I very much love that program in fact. I only left for upward movement and an oportunity at a larger program. The coaches there are like brothers to me.
Personally I think it's fine to mention the positive impact you had but I'd leave out the negatives from before and after you left. Stats from times when you aren't there don't really pertain to you and there could be a hundred reasons for the changes in all stars and wins etc. It's ok to blow your own horn, just don't kick somebody else in the nuts while you do it.
I agree with greenough. I would just mention that in your 4 years in that position you produced 13 1st team All State selections and leave it at that. That right there is enough to grab their attention.
