Just wanted to see if anyone has came across a defense that has had their DT's bear crawl, or try to take out your G/T's legs. When I was in high school our defense played a 5-3 and our DT's did this. It was incredibly hard to run up the middle on us because the opposing O-line either couldn't get to the second level, or they were slowed down, so our LB's roamed almost completely free. How would u block ISV and OSV against a team that does this? Any of your thoughts would be appreciated, thanks!
Being realistic is the most commonly traveled road to mediocrity
First, I would make sure the snap count was varied. If it was really an issue, I might go to my goal-line techniques where we basically wedge block the point of attack. Also, I would run toss, iso, and throw the ball some to make them start to play honest.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
If you cannot get movement on the DL, either read them or trap them. Read them by running midline and trap them to death because, if they are concentrated on getting into the guard, they won't be ready to wrong arm the trapper.
I have seen this a few times, generally every year one or two teams get the idea to do this. When we start to see this technique used by D Tackles we widen our splits a foot or two or three or however far we can go and then read those tackles. They generally can't close very fast on a fullback if they are crawling and the splits create a farther distance for them to go plus more room for the guard to get to the next level. Haven't had a team successfully use this technique yet.
