This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
New to the forum and I'm glad I found it because for years I have always wanted to be a head coach in either D1 college football or in the NFL...
My question is, how do you create a playbook from scratch after you have found what you want to run? I think I understand most of the run game components (mostly b/c I played o-line all my life) but I'm kinda blind when it comes to the passing game. I understand a few basic pass concepts (smash, slant/flat, the simple stuff) but I would love to know how to better understand the passing game and some more tips on creating a passing game so I can create a philosophy...

The most important thing when you are just starting your coaching career is realizing that you don't know everything, and it sounds like you are on your way on that. My best advice is to simply do everything you can to soak in as much knowledge as you can. Read through as many playbooks as you can get your hands on, go to coaching clinics and listen to other coaches who have been there and done that, and get yourself into a program where you can have some responsibility and can gain good experience.

Thank you for your honesty, I just re-read my earlier post and it sounds like i THINK i know everything...
I have been looking at a lot of different playbooks for a while thanks to google and coachteed.com and I've also saved and kept alot of the playbooks and opponent scouting reports from my time in junior college as well...

The fact that you know you are not sure on the passing game, means you know you realize you don't know everything, and it looks like you have some resources identified. Next winter, find a Nike or Glazier clinic in your area. When I started coaching, I thought I knew everything I needed to know. I was very wrong. I applied for a head coaching position after my 3rd year of coaching, I didn't get it, and I'm glad now I didn't...I would have crashed and burned. Frankly the playbook part is the easy part. The tough part is all the other hats you have to wear as an HC. I wish I had a simpler answer for you, but this is not really a profession that allows for simple answers.
