Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Just a quick question. We're going up against a stunting team upfront. I'm curious as to what other OL coaches use as cues to teach their linemen not to follow the looper.
One of the things I tell my linemen on a rush play is to get your hands on the defensive lineman right now. They do a lot of X stunts, Nose under End, Nose under Tackle. When they do the double X stunt, with the tackles looping over the End, they have the tackles aligned head up on the guards and the ends lined up head up on the OTs. The DTs take a step into the A-Gap and then loop around the pinching end. I think our guards can blow this whole stunt up by getting hands on and driving that tackle inside because then our OT can just wash the end down and we can hit outside. But if our guard misses, what's the next best way to block that stunt? Just have the guard step down hard inside, make a "stunt" call and make sure the tackle stays home as well?
They also do some looping stunts. Which don't make me all that nervous, they take too long to develop to be a problem against the run.
For pass pro, we'll likely slide pretty much everything.

Coach first if you are pass protecting then block it BOB with the idea that if you follow your looper and you bump into an adjacent lineman then pass off. this puts your two adjacent linemmen in an exchange of defenders . If you lineman get a looper and he stays BOB and follows his looper and does not bump into an adjacent lineman than stay with your man. Must be able to teach an alert word to echange defenders between adjacent line and the alert word we use is switch if two line bump into each other. Coach campbell

Thanks, Coach Campbell. I'm actually running it in an open protection. Even our slide series is going with open. We're essentially manned up with a free lineman to scan the defense and pick up blitz. We have a key word to describe a looper, well, several, and several dummy ones as well. For the run game, I've explained to our line to block it the way we always do, with emphasis on sealing a gap. Their stunts take them out of our run plays, so we welcome them to do so. Thanks for the reply.
Sometimes when you ask something, it makes you think more critically and come up with a better game plan. I really, really appreciate the help.
