Coaches, I always liked the 33 front as compared to the 31 front. What do you think are the advantages and the disadvantages of the 33 front, and what do you think are the advantages and the disadvantages of the 31 front? Thank you.

I never play a 33 front vs a two back set for the simple reason of the A gap ISO. I had a team run that play everytime we lined up in it and it ripped us bad. Great angles for the offense....turn out on the guards and they take nice 3 foot splits. Center blocks the BS ILB....FB is all over the FS ILB and now they have parted the sea.....
Some teams also like to line up in 2 TE and turn out on the guards and fold the tackles underneath and give the ball to the FB.
You gotta be prepared to stop these types of attacks or it makes it a long day. From the B gap out I loved the defense....But when someone is committed to running inside as I mentioned above, you need to find ways of stopping them. So now, I will run the 33 vs a one back set only.

I agree it would not be much of an adjustment backside with two tight ends. Just walk the 9 tech as a loose 9 so it turns into the under front backside or a 13 look. Coach CAmpbell
Coaches, thank you for your help. It is apparent to me that if I am to be based out of the 33 front, I better teach my linebackers to take on iso blocks and make the play. I have always been concerned about this, but now that it is reinforced to me, I am going to make this a greater focus at our practices. Thank you coaches.
