I was wondering what exactly are "bubbles" in football? I know this is a very basic question, yet I've literally never had the term explained or taught to me.
Also, how do you/what are the different ways to fill these bubbles?
The "bubble" is a natural soft spot in a defense because of their alignment. For instance, in a traditional 4 man front, usually you will have a defensive tackle in a 3 technique (outside shade of the strong guard) and a 2i technique (inside shade of the weak guard). This forms two natural bubbles, the biggest is probably off the outside hip of the weak guard. The gap responsibility for this is probably a linebacker, so there is a natural bubble that will form because the OL can gain ground before having to enguage the LB. The other bubble is between the C and the strong G for the same reason. It is especially important for players to see the bubble if you are running option.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
