Play Selection in "I" Back Offense

Coach Campbell,

I have been assigned the job of installing an "I" back offense with our freshmen this coming season, with the idea of transitioning back to the "I" back offense with our quarterback under center at the varsity level as these kids advance in our program in the next couple of years. To help me along the way, I have purchased your "I" Back Offense Installation Manual as well as the DVDs. Your teaching methods are awesome. Thanks for the tremendous resources.

I am a believer that it is better to do a few things well than a lot of things in a sub-par fashion. With that in mind, could you recommend a "short list" of plays from your materials that would give us enough the variety to be successful without overwhelming the kids their first year in the program that we could add to as the kids progress.

Also could you share your insights on how I might group those basic run, option, and pass plays in a game plan, play calling script to keep a defense off balance?
