Leadership programs are very important to the program and the community. As coaches we must remember that we are the role models in the that athletes life. So we must do as we say and create rapport with the athlete. Leadership programs help in uniting the team to hold on in the face of adversity. Our leadership program will range from neighborhood clean up to spending time in a retirement home. Here are 5 character traits we will abide by:
1. Character- our football program will build resilient and strong character student/athletes to withstand all types of adverse situations.
2. Sportsmanship- our football program true identity will show after a win or a loss. If we win say little and if we lose say nothing at all.
3. Teamwork- in order to reach our goals we must work towards a common goal. No one is above anyone else. We are only as strong as our weakest link.
4. Family- you will treat each other with respect. You will lookout for each other and help out when one is in need.
5. Accountability- You will be held accountable for your actions on and off the field. You must understand for every action there is a reaction. Groups- There will be a total of 5 groups with 10 athletes. Each group will have 5 offensive and 5 defensive player mix. We will meet once a month to go over there to do list and we give the limelight to each group to show what they have accomplished by their own account or if they have video of it. There is always one player that records everything in a journal or video. This makes for a problem solving team so everyone is link some how to each other and there is no envy during the season because they have established a relationship with everyone on the team. We change groups every three months
