Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
A number of DB coaches have been talking about "step and replace" as the technique their DB's use to take their read steps. Exactly what is this? Is it nothing more than a type of shuffle where one foot always stays on the ground? Is it small steps backwards? I'm kinda' confused and hope someone can explain.
Used when the WR attacks the DB vertically & attempts to take DBâ??s leverage away (inside or outside) While backpedaling the DB step to regain leverage on WR. Step is about 1 foot to the side the WR is threatening. Replace the other foot where the 1st foot left from. *Terminology â?? â??Step, Replace; Step, Replaceâ? It should not take more than 2 steps to recover leverage. If it requires more than 2 steps be prepared to open hips and run. While stepping and replacing the DB must continue to gain ground. The DB must keep his shoulders square to the LOS until their 5 yd cushion is broken. *Coaching Point - If the DBâ??s shoulders are not square to the LOS the DB will widen to much and not gain enough ground; the WR will break his cushion to quickly and the DB will be out of place
