Loyalty to the Program and Head Coach
All conversations with people in the community, players, staff members and with in the coaching staff will be in a positive light. All coaches will follow the chain of command. Assistant Coach to Head Coach to Athletic Director in all matters of discipline and other team issues or questions. Remember, you are a Warrior. We deal with differences and issues as a staff and never have an agenda or plan that strays from the goals of the team. We must remain on the same page if we are to achieve our highest aspirations. Your job is to be a teacher and mentor to young athletes and create the best possible atmosphere for each athlete and our team to succeed. Most important of all, DO YOUR JOB.
The NEVERS
Never use profanity, tobacco around the facility or players, be in a hurry to leave, expect less than perfection, be late, give up on a player, be unorganized, have players have to wait for you.
On the Field Expectations
Be a teacher first. Be disciplined with everything you do. High expectations and demands will lead to high levels of performance for all. Discipline is the basis for everything we do. It starts with the coaches and will lead to disciplined players. If we let the little things slip by without being corrected, the ship will come down eventually. The attention to detail for our staff will lead to great things down the road and the program will become embedded in our athletes and community. Be a great communicator within our team. Talking and coaching within our program in an effective and professional way is vital for our success. Treat each player as a person, not a football player. Make all decisions with the concept of team in mind and what is best for the team not the individual player. Know your position group and its role within the team like nobody else. It is your baby, care for it like it is. Expect to be talked to if something goes wrong that is under your control as a position coach.
Off the Field Expectations
Be a teacher first. Supervision of athletes is one of your main responsibilities as a coach. Everything our team does in terms of behavior, habits and attitudes reflects on the the program, team, coaches, school and community. Take pride in and teach our players how to take pride in our program and facilities. You will be given off-field duties that must be taken care of for everything to get done in a timely manner and for all of us to do our part. Remember, even outside of our facilities you are viewed as a teacher and coach and your actions reflect our program. Be disciplined in your personal life and do not bring personal issues to the facility.
