Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
COVER 2 is a "MOF OPEN" look. COVER 3 is a "MOF CLOSED" look.
Some new books & DVD's call COVER 4 a "MOF OPEN" look. That is absolutely incorrect. Quite often PRE-SNAP = COVER 4 has MOF CLOSED depending on the align of the #2 receiver. Quite often POST-SNAP = COVER 4 has MOF CLOSED depending on the ROUTE of #2 OR #1 (if either comes inside deeper than 10 yds). EXAMPLE: Anyone who makes the critical mistake of throwing a POST CURL, or DIG route to the WR (with the TE going ANYWHERE except vertical & deep) will find the MOF CLOSED, & the WR bracketed by the Safety AND Corner (= INT)!
Cover 4 is an "unique" situation that must be categorized differently (Penn St QB Coach talked about this FACT at a recent clinic). We saw this WEEKLY in College ball (& almost as frequently in HS ball).
