Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We installed the OV this past season (split back) and had great success against 5 and 9 techs to the TE side. But we only got a chance to use it in 3 of our 12 games because of the defensive fronts faced. I am new to this play and am looking for some advice on WHEN it can be run. Can you run it to the open side? Can you run it vs 6 or 7 techniques? We block this play the same as our Lead (Load) option with a combo between the TE and T on the 5 to the ILB. As I said, it was a great play, averaging big yardage, and I would like to invorporate it as a bigger part of our offense. Any advice would be appreciated.

JM its a good play and best run to the tight end side because with the tight end in it takes the hole one man wider, this is where it gets its name outside veer. To an openside with no tight end it becomes inside veer. The load option is the compliment to both inside veer to an openside and outside veer towards the tight end. Coach CAmpbell
