Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Does anyone have an idea on how to make some kind of calls to help kids line up better in the 50? Instead of saying base, over, under, etc. In our old 40, we used a numbering system that worked well. However, with the 50 and 3 down linemen and 2 ends moving around, it is too wordy. We would appreciate your input.
Coach, when you're using an odd front, it will be difficult to have a simpler system because of all the fronts you are using. If you have a systematic way of teaching the fronts to your student/athletes, they will understand them. You have a good system, just teach it to your student/athletes in a logical, sequential order. Good luck and I hope this helps.

We run an odd front (pro 3-4) and what we do is we give a two digit call to tell our two Tackles where to line up. This two digit call also tells the Nose where to line up.
For example: We call "55, Cover 4" The first 5 tells the strong side DT where to align over the OT. The second 5 tells the DT away from strength call where to align. If the digits are the same (ie. 55, 44, 33), the Nose will be head up on the center.
If were to call " 53, Cover 4", the strength side DT would be in a 5, the weakside DT in a 3 tech on the OG, and the Nose would shade strong over the Center. Anytime the two digits are different (ie. 53, 54, 43, etc.) the Nose will shade strong over the center.
If you wanted to make the field side the strength, even if the formation strength was in the boundary, we would call "Field 53, Cover 4". This puts the the wide side DT in a 5 and the boundary side DT in a 3.
This system has been real good for us. Hope this helps. If you ahve any further questions, you can email directly ast jbornn@hartdistrict.org
