These are the two PREFDOMINANT blocking "schemes" in H.S., College, & Pro ball today:
ZONE = combination blocking with two players working together against two defenders. With zone blocking, you create running lanes for your backs by "zoning off" whatever line/LB stunt used. This means both players, whether that be center-guard or guard-tackle or tackle-tight end working the defenders.
GAP SCHEME = blocking down with double teams (with TE/OT or OT/OG), trapping the EMLOS, & leading a blocker thru the hole.
