Coaches- I am coaching wide receivers and I am tired of doing the same drills. I wanted to know if you guys had any ideas of drills that I can do to work with they're speed and catching. Thanks for your help.

It will be extremely difficult to coach and improve a kids speed through drills during the season. I think increasing the speed of the players should be a goal done in the offseason through proper training and with weight training. The area that you probably could improve greatly with drills during the season is a receivers quickness and swiftness in and out of his breaks through drills that teach proper technique and increase foot speed. Personally, I don't have any real exciting off the wall drills for this. To help improve a players ability to catch with his hands, I was told about throwing the kids tennis balls instead of football's during the beginning of individual drills. This will get them used to running routes and catching with the hands instead of the body.
