Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We will use names. I have seen numbers to run both fronts and blitzes, but I feel as though names are easier to remember if they are coordinated with the positions.
Coach, We use the numbering system so we can get into A LOT of fronts. For example we keep our nose in a zero. If we want our ends in head up of o-tackles we signal in 55 (For some of you that 44). If we want them in 6 we call 66. If were in bear and want 3's we call 33 BEAR.. The d-line only has to know their numbers and their slant.... PGolla
Coach, I think that is great. We go with #'s because we want to get into a lot of fronts and to keep it very simple for our d-line.... were like you when it come to in and out. We call 66 Tim. Tim means tackle slant inside. tim tackles IN..... TOM tackles OUTSIDE. We just give them a number where to algin. we are very multiple in what we do.. \
Coach Hawk, How many differnent alignments do you use? At this point, I am only comfortable with 2 odd fronts. We sneak into a 40 front, but we still keep the 6 gap principle. Also, how many different stunts/blitzes out of the 33 do you use? I'd love to talk to you about how you call different things. Maybe this is a simple question, but, after your basic 3-3 front, what are the advantages to sliding your interior 3 linemen around, besides giveing the offense a different look? I think I see (in my mind) some of the different things you are talking about. Are you givivng the same types of slants/blitzes responsibilites out of many different looks?
We do not jump our lineman around due to the fact that they are aligned head up and they (the offense) does not know which way they are going anyway. Now.... the other eight players.... now that is a different story.... They can line and move wherever/whenever they want as long as they can perform their assignment when the ball is snapped.
Coach, We get into so many different alignments I cannot tell you how many. For the kids it does not matter. If we tell them 33 they align in a 3 tech. Versus different offenses we like to use different fronts. Power teams we like 4I etc.... We still slant out of it. Our base is a 0 and two 5's. We blitz and move a lot. For our kids it is not a lot because it is the same stunt just the align in a different spot. We really want the offensive line to see a lot of things.... GOLLA
Coach Hawk, If you basically can put your ends in 3 different techniques, and still remain true to the 3-3, you are basically adding 6 times the amount of things you can call. I know this would cause our offense lots of trouble, especially if the dl can still execute all the things they can normally out of the base 33.
after reading my last post, i reread the whole thread, i guess i just added some things for our guys that we didn't put in this summer. hope they are smarter than their gpa's!!!!!
signal, We always start or huddle calls with 2 numbers. First to the strong end the second to the quick end. then we call our blitz and or movement. We have come up with a system as a no huddle offense does. We have no calls etc.. Very simple for the kids... with a lot of possibilities. PG>
Coach. We broke every defensive record in school history.. We love this defense and the multiple looks it gives... We found a defense that fits the coaches and especially our kids.... PG
