You really can't run a pure 8-man front unless you are going to play pure man or man-free (they'll send 4 verticals in a heartbeat). If you're going to run either of those coverages, you better send at least 6. You can run some kind of 7-man front and play 1/4's pattern-read, two-deep or 1/4,1/4,1/2 and stunt linemen. of course, you could play a 7-man front and still run pure man or man-free and send folks.
