Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Lets say were in the I formation pro set and inside zone weak is the play. The D has a 1 or 2i and a 5 on the weakside. You want a duece by the center and guard on the 1 or 2i to the playside backer in this case the weakside backer. The tackle will block the 5 tech out. What does the fullback do??? block playside or backside?? combo with the tackle on the 5 tech??
What we are doing is Ace Block on the DT to PSLB. PST base the PSDE. BSG base BSDT. BST and BSTE combo (we call it scoop) BSDE to the BSLB. The FB leads of the MLB.
We also run it with an ACE Wedge to the MLB and have the FB lead on the PSLB. Both were good for us in the past.

I would like to mention when running the inside zone blocking schemes is that we stay away from the scoop because that is a take over scheme by the backside of the combo. We push slow rotating or vertical combos with no lineman leaving his block until LBers reach their level. Coach CAmpbell
You are correct coach. I described the wrong play. That is our iso, i had my head up my rear when I was doing that. Anyway, We ace play side to the MLB and the PST will inside release to the nearest LB, but we don't chase him, he will come to us. Our BSG and T will duece to the BSLB, TE will base and the FB will kickout the PSDE. This is how we run it, there is probably a better way. But I like this way casue everybody is blocked and I will put our back against a saftey/rover anyday. Now Coach Campbell may run it differently.
Now let me ask you a question Coach Joe/anybody. On the Iso are you scooping the backside? If not what are you doing. I am always up for better ways of doing things.

Coach Joe from the "I" we build it from a split flow look that puts the fullback backside blocking the defendive end while the backside tackle inside releases to the first defender to his inside. This allows the Tailback to take the play frontside and the offensive line to take their push vertically. This type of play creates a "V" The running back will either hit it frontside or run off the backside hip of the tackle who has released inside. Coach CAmpbell

When you run your inside zone play what are you doing with your fullback? Also what is the exchange point for the quarterback and Tailback. Coach CAmpbell
I take my fullback to the weakside end, even if we are running to the weak side. Weak side to us is away from the TE. Unless we are in a two TE set then it is to the short side of the field. We are never in anything less than a one TE set.
As for the exchange point. I like for my back to take a slide step, reading the blocks and get the ball at 5 yd depth.
Now I have been toying with the idea of moving my TB from 7 yds to 5 it would give the LB less time to react, but I still have not convinced my self that that is the way to go. What are your thoughts, on any of the above?

Coach K dropstep your tailback on the snap of the ball this will allow the QB to get the ball back to him deeper thus allowing him more of an opprtunity to read his cuts. Coach CAmpbell
We keep the FB playside. His first responsibility is any overhang player. For example, the weak rover in an eight man front. We classify a overhang player if they are at linebacker depth. If no overhang then FB blocks the PSLB. The center and PSG Stab the 1 Tech. to the backside linebacker. If no overhang exists the play becomes weak side iso zoned block on the backside.
Another good wrinkle for us on the strong side inside zone out of the I was a "Fat" call. "Fat" told the FB and BST to exchange assignments. The tackle blocks out on the 5 and the FB leads on BSLB. It put better athlete on the BSLB and makes him in hang in there because he was thinking lead. This was only used against a 1 &5 on the backside.
