You have to be flexible and willing to adjust. But I still believe 100% that execution, not innovation, is what wins games. How well do your guys execute compared to the other guys?
Some coaches stand at a blackboard and diagram plays and look very intellectual, but it means nothing if the can't get the knowledge across to their players or if they can't get their players to believe in the system.
The game does not have to be complex. Lombardi proved that. Chuck Noll proved it in Pittsburgh. But it does have to be exacting and does have to be well executed.

When players that are asked to do too many things, the result is they don't do any of them very well. Strip things down to the basics. Retain only those plays and formations that allow your guys to do what they can do best.
