2-1/2 Hour Football Practice Schedule
Narrative
The Value of Practice
Football is more than 22 people on the field combating each other to get a prolate spheroid shape ball to one end of a grassy field to score points. Football is a game of strategy. It is also a game that teaches life skills such as goal setting, time management, teamwork, resiliency, managing successes and failures, while imploring discipline and physical health.
However, these characteristics of football are not innate and need to be taught in a repetitive manner to be mastered. Practice provides the avenue where repetition of skills can take place, teamwork can be fostered, skills can be improved, and leadership skills can be developed; in other words, practice is essential to the game of football.

Warm-up 3:15pm to 3:30pm
Warm-up consists of the light jog around the track to prepare the body for the dynamic and static stretches that will take place following the jog. The jog will have each player jog the track while carrying a football. The purpose of this is to develop a focus on the ball. If you develop an attachment to the football, it will develop an increased level of awareness as to where the ball is located at any given moment.
The dynamic stretches will improve speed, agility, and acceleration. This occurs through active tightening of muscles and movement of joints which takes places through full range motion during stretching. Static stretches require one to move a muscle then hold that position without feeling pain. This is to increase flexibility and to reduce the risk of injury to the athlete.
During this time the special teams coach will conduct a series of drills that will work on fundamentals. The focus will be to master the basics to ensure that alignment, contact, height, distance, and maximum force is achieved when kicking the football. Additional points of focus will be accuracy, the ability to recognize situations and opportunities while also having the skills to maximize those opportunities. The snappers will work on their drills to increase balance, accuracy of their snap, as well as their ability to go from the snap position to blocking the rusher(s) with effectiveness and force.
Offensive Line Sled & Drills 4:05pm to 4:15pm
The offensive line coach will utilize the sled with the offensive line to work on improving their blocking technique, power, and speed.
