How do you guys coach the SLB (with contain resp) to react when the FB motions out toward the sideline in order to get outside leverage on a toss play? Do you walk with him to maintain leverage, or stay and try and beat him into the backfield?

in my opinion, someone must adjust with a FB's shuffle motion. in either a 4-3, or a 4-4, it is important for the strong side LB to widen with the motion. in a 4-4 the strong side ILB should "match" the width of the FB and the $$ should be ready to force and "blow up" the FB on toss. in a 4-3 look the sam should still widen to match the FB and the HI-SAFETY to that side walks himself down into the box, much like a $$ in a 4-4 look. you must be ready for coutner coming back the other way, so you can't simply have your defenders flying out of there. hope this helps!
If the FB is sliding motion to the strongside the SLB in a 4-3 should adjust with the FB enough to maintain force/contain. Like morpheus said, however, the MLB and the backside defenders better be ready for the counter (GT) coming back to them. Our MLB reads the RB then to the "flow" side guard. If he reads an on block from the "flow" side guard he stays on and pursues the pitch inside-out through the C-gap. If he reads pull the MLB redirects to help out on the counter to the backside. Your WLB should already be keying the RB and expecting a misdirection play with an off-set FB away from him.
