Help with Technology????

This may seem like a dumb question, but guys i cant figure out how to fix my VCR's so i can copy a tape!! I think one of the kids was watching film in the office and I am not sure if they messed with the wires. I sent a BLANK tape to a college the other day and felt rather embarrassed!!
So if somebody knows what the problem may be PLEASE, let me know!!
