This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Walk me through what the outside zone would look like vs this defense to the strong side. There are two 2 tech's, ILBs stacked over them, two 5 tech's and OLB's in 9 tech. What would the C, PSG, PST and TE be aiming for? I know they bucket step and get on a track but what are they aiming for and who will account for the LB'ers? Also what do you teach the RB's? Out of the gun with a Pro set who does the lead back block and what is the aiming point for the RB getting the ball? When does he make his cut?
TE and PST would aim at the outside number. They are on their own and if they can't get a hook, then they must keep them running. The PSG and the C would combo the playside stack, the BSG and BST would scoop the backside stack. The lead back would kick out the force player. We have used him to help secure the hook on the 9 and look for first threat. Out of the look you describe the PSILB or the FS would probably be the first thing to show.
I really like the speed option here. Pitch off the end and have the TE seal the first thing inside. The back would have the same responsibility as on the stretch.
Of course, my first choice against this front would be to throw the football.
Like Northstang said I would probably check to a 3 step pass, if we called stretch in the huddle and they came out in this front.
If the 9 tech. is playing too wide and the TE can't reach him what I would do is go to a man scheme, TE blocks down on the 5 tech and the tackle pulls and either kicks out or logs the 9 tech.
