Any ideas from coaches on how to handle the fold block out of a 4-4? I mean I've normally taught my DL's to follow the pulling OL(hip pocket stuff)...but I'm thinking of changing that. I think maybe reading the down blocker's angle might help...too flat--go across the face, too deep--get in back pocket and run around. Any thoughts? I need to hurry up and make up my mind. What do you guys do?
Coach, That is what we do. When we watch video and see the down block head across we will spin out of it. If its a bad down block head not in front then we follow the puller. PGOLLA
Coach, thanks for the response...that's basically what I was looking for. I, personally, just get very nervous telling my players to spin...only because they will start doing it too much. It's so easy to spin off a block--they use it all the time if you let them. If you get caught in a spin move by a good OL...fuhgettaboutit, you're done. So I guess we'll just have to be disciplined with that. Thanks again.
