Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
we prefer to run any trap play to a 3 technique. It simplifies the blocking whether the trap is inside or long as in a counter gap. WE don't like the idea of a cenjter blocking back on a 3 technique. Usually, you will get a 1 tech or a 2i technique with a 3 technique so it is an easier block for the center.
WE will call for example 32/33 trap check with me in the huddle and the QB will locate the 3 tech and check the play to him. We don't really care about the TE or SE side so much as where the 3 technique is located.
It simplifies the blocking for us and makes it easy for the center to block back.
We can do it either way. We call it Counter OT when want the offside guard and tackle to pull and we call it Counter O3 when we want the Offside guard and 3 back to pull. If we wanted the Offside guard and TE to pull we would call Counter OY.
We like to run our counter trap in different ways depending on what the defense is reading. Most of the defenses we face will change their reads from week to week and halp to half. So we have veriations of most all of our plays to combat the defenses reads. We use a counter FB trailing behind the long trapper to clean up the PSLB. This works well when teams are reading your fb. When they read the TB we will sometimes counter him to get movement by the LBs, also we will freeze our TB in till the guard clears and have him explode up into the hole behind the gurad. Not a true counter, but it frezzes the LBs long enough to get somebody up on them. Also this has helped our sprint draw since we use the same action by the QB.
