I haven't been around long enough to know the best way to organize weight training. We do not have a very good work ethic in season or out in the weight room. I thought I would have the kids lift 2-3 times per week this season, but only do 2 lifts per day (either squat and bench or power clean and incline, I think these are the best lifts for football). We are doing the lifts after practice or the kids can lift in the morning when school starts. We started teaching the dead lift as an intro to power clean - this seems almost impossible for about 20 kids, especially the bigger ones. It is also tough to get enough coaches up there to coach them up on technique. How do you organize this? How do you find the time to get everyone in and get some quality work done? How do you save the assistants the time? I feel like i have to get them going during this season or I have no prayer of getting them in next off season. Any tricks of the trade would be appreciated.
