Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
My school is trying to do a better job of getting good information from the booth on game nights. I am defensive coordinator and would like to know what kind of paperwork you guys would have in the booth to help with defense. As of right now, I am only using a simple defensive scouting sheet. If I need to use any more, let me know. I have a new guy working in the booth who seems to see everything quickly and accurately. If he had more information written down, we could probably work on defense more efficiently. Besides just the offensive plays that the offense had done well on, what do you guys want to know at halftime? Thanks, great website.
For the defensive side we have 2 coaches. One coach just records while the other coach calls out the following information: Down, Distance, hash, yardline, formation, play, Hole/Zone, result.
Once the info has been recorded and the defensive series is over, the information is transferred to your hit charts. These are usually posted on the wall of the press box. We use a down and distance hit chart, a formation hit chart and a back field hit chart for the teams that use multiple formations. On the hit charts, we will record the play in the appropriate hole. For example 32 trap will be recorded in the 2 hole. Even numbers are strong side runs and odd numbers are weak side runs.
Now the appropriate tendencies can be disseminated down to the DC on the field at the completion of each down and in between series.
