Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
The QB sneak is a dangerous weapon that is never talked about. I am very interested in hearing some things that you have taught on the sneak that have made your sneak work great and I'm also interested in hearing ways you shut it down.
We have a 'goose' play that is the QBs option to run. He identifies the alignment, and the LBs and if it is wider than 4 techniques, he gooses the center and follows. We also tag our ground game (aside from the options) with a "U". This tells the QB to follow after faking the regular ball carrier. This is especially successful with ISO and FB Trap. Our QB has above average skills so we would like to get him more involved in the ground attack.
Stopping it is another story. Because we leave the 'sneak' up to our QB, defensively our MLBs (Base 4-4) have to spy the QB before they go to their reads. This is a dual pronged advantage for us (our MLBs run like FSs and hit like LBs), the moment's hesitation to spy puts the MLBs in perfect inside out relation to a ball carrier, and holds them that extra count for counter, draw, or any misdirection.
