Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I have a good TE this year, but don't get him the ball enough (we run boot TE is on a quick out, waggle TE is on a slice, and a skinny post on some other play action looks, need some other ways to get him in the action.

We run a double screen/tight end screen from one back, works best from the gun.
Doubles Rt (Tight end and Flanker right, split end and slot left, on this play back aligns left.)
Back flares left. Slot and split end block men on, try to get outside position on defenders (vs man they run slants and crack) Left tackle does not block DE, heads out to hook OLB, left guard drives through DT to LB/"trash collect" as we say.
Center, right guard, right tackle pass set, then screen block, flanker drives down like a pass and blocks, tight end delays, then release outside and turns around under the blockers for the screen.
QB reads the DE to the back swing side. If the DE comes upfield or sits inside too much, he hits the swing off one step, if the DE takes the swing, QB finishes 3 step from gun(like 5-step) and hits the tight end on the screen. CAn also be run to a second back, or could be a quick receiver screen.
You're Killin me has listed some good ones. One we like that is a very easy to throw for the QB is easiest draw up: Pro Set Right Flanker: 12 yard curl, and sit split end: post, stay skinny HB: pass protect FB: look for quickest vertical release (inside or outside the tackle) and scream up the hash Tight end: start outside like an arrow, plant and come back underneath the fullback, and begin to get upfield some
QB, Look Hi/Low from fullback to tight end, look for flanker sitting in a hole if the defense collapses down
Great play, especially if you can hit your tight on on some easy flat routes and out routes first. Easy throw for the QB.
We run a delay over the middle to the TE off of deep drop back action.
From Splitbacks with a slot look to one side, TE alone on the other side:
X runs a deep post, driving directly into the middle third. If it is cover 2...he should try to occupy the attention of both safetys. If cover 3, attack the FS.
Z runs a 10 yard out under the cut of X
Slotside HB runs pass protection. TE side HB releases on a wide go route...like a fade...gaining width and depth.
TE delays and blocks for 001, 002, 003 count and runs a skinny post right in the seam where the LB's have all dropped off.
QB takes a deep 5 step drop, looking off to the slot side the whole time. He sets and throws to the TE over the middle.

Lochness, you are so right...we ran that play in college...was a beauty!
OK, this is a play every west coast pro team uses about4 or 5 times a game in some form:
Get to trip on one side with the tight end, so 2 receivers and a tight end. The other side has a split end. QB is in gun, and the RB is set to the TE side.
3 receiver side rule: #1 Fade #2 Shoot (or flat depending on what you call it) #3 (TE) 5-7 yard choice route. Runs for 5-7 yards leans in and runs a square out. If for some reason there is outside leverage, then sit down. If not keep heading out. Know that you are the first choice vs. man, if QB isn't going for the fade.
1 Receiver side: #1 Hitch/Fade Choice. If you get man, or cover 2, run the fade, otherwise, run a hitch.
Running back: As soon as the ball is snapped you will cross the QB's face, and fake like you have gotten the ball, looking for the backside DE, or LB depending on protection called.
Line: BOB or Slide to the TE....coach's choice.
QB: cursory fake the run. work the 3 receiver side, unless they are flat out giving you the weak flats. If they are giving you the flats, call BOB and take them. The run fake will hold the flat defender, and it is an easy completion. If you are working the three receiver side, your read is the flat defender. If he hangs, hit the flats now, but if he shoots to the flats, come right back to the TE. The OLB on the 3 receiver side will be hel be the run fake, and will never cover the TE. If the defense gets into a cover 2 look, the read is exactly the same as it is for smash (as smash and fade/flat are the same route basically).
Try it and let me know what you think...it moves the chains.
