throwing the screen problem?

one way is to block the de on a screen. we have found he just can get into the play too much. we have found if the tackle pass set and just when the de is ready to go by the tackle we shove the de creating a passing lane.

another is from shotgun is use the counter read play. have the screen play run and run the counter or inside zone. if the de chases the inside zone or counter throw the screen.

this is also why I believe in having two wr screens. one being a dropback the other being a quick 1 step and throw. the quick should beat the de and we block him

if you are undercenter then it is fine to pass set then cut but if you are in the shotgun you will get called for blocking below the waist at the h.s. level.

that is not what I have been told. if you are going to cut it must be the first thing you do. to drop and chop is blocking below the waist according to federation rules.

maybe it is different in your state but I know the federation rules do not allow it.

In Texas we play NCAA rules so we can set and cut. When I was in Oklahoma under NF rules we "nut blocked" any outside screen. Initial charge was with our facemask right at the family jewels.
