Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I am looking for drills which will help keep the OL low. I do not have access to barrels, chutes etc. No matter how I coach it (low man wins etc) the boys (10-11yrs) seem to stand up on the first few steps.
Rope drill - Two coaches hold a rope (Can be a long broom handle) at varying heights and we progress down the field on a series of snaps. Guys go in two's so we can even practice crosses, twists and switches.
Suicide Dive - Linemen simply explode into a shield with no arm use and end up flat on their faces after contact. We progress this to include a positioning step, a drive step and finally bring back the arms. Again we work in two's because the relationship keeps guys low.
In contact drills I set the hitting point lower in practice when we coach footwork. Contact has to be on hip pads for a footwork drill and numbers for scrimmage.
We also use bear crawls as thishelps get muscle memory recorded for lower angles etc.
