Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Use your quick 3-step game. Teach your inside receiver to run a "replacement" route.
If the LB on his side blitzes, then run your route directly where he was and replace him. This is when the safety that is over him is back at 7+ yards.
If the safety is up tight, then there is no help over the top. You can run a vertical past him.
If the blitzing backer is coming from the single receiver side, then swing your back out of the backfield and hit him. This will leave an inside LB in a chase position.
You can also change your launch point by sprinting out.
when you say 4-3 with edge rushers are they liningup in more of a 6-1 look? if so quick trap up the middle is really effective. the reason I say this is, to us a 6-1 look still is only 5 men in the box as on most downs they are going to send the edge rushers sam and will. also it is effective because there is no deep safety so there is no one between the l.o.s. and the goalline. if you have a good running back it is a touchdown. the same holds true out of noback with the qb being the runner. you gash the defense up the gut like that a few times in arow and you will see some coverage changes very quick. when you say cover 0 I assume you are talking straight man. what is the tech of the dbs? are they loose or are they tight. are theyinside shade or outside shade. one play I like is double slants vs this. you are reading the defender over the inside slot. if he drops you throw the slant infront, if he attacksinside slant you throw the slant behind him. this is also a big yardage gainer as once again the defense has chosen to give up the middle of the field figuring they will get to you before you get to them. another play which works well is short. the defense is going to hate you on this one. lineup two slots 4 yds apart to the trips side. have the inside slot pushup field and have the outside slot cut off his but. this is a rub route and needs to be practiced. they are going to scream pick but as long as you rec is not blocking you are okay. it can be done to the outside on a twins set as well. some call it a pick I call it creating space.
