Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Throw the ball. Run option to the twins with the wr's running off. It doens't sound like you have a pitch player. The other thing is to go to twins open (3 wr's) and run the ball back to the single receiver side.
Coach, You could run two things. First an outside Veer and Read the 5-tech, and pitch off the SS, the WR's must run -off the FS and CB. The PST inside release to the 20 LB and the PSG and Center Double the 1tech. The next thing is to simply run a Veer Option Pass, Read step w/ the FB, the O-Line BOB protects, FB runds short Arrow to run off the SS and have the TB run a seam and find space, the Twins could run Deep scissors to cross up the Man Coverage, then have the TE run shallow drag at 10yds or a backside Seam. Good luck, let me now how it goes, Matt Transue
1st...how do you run outside veer to the twins without a TE and what is an arrow route by the FB and off of what backfield action.
The biggest problem with running the inside veer to this setup is they can bait the QB into a give read and still tackle him with the stacked SS.
I think a double option will get the ball outside (with teh FB picking up whoever shows in the B gap) but I am open to any ideas throwing the ball against the man coverage which is played loose at about 6 yards.
Vs this look you should have your load play to the tight end, and your midline play to the 3 tech tight end side. Where are the Sam, Mike, and Will? It sounds like the defense is trying to take your twins side away. When we do run veer to twins, we have our receivers run a wheel combo, or run verticals. We watch the reaction of the Corner and FS. If they come up hard, we go to our play action off the veer. Great way to work your option is to use your TE as a the twin, and you can motion him around to get an extra blocker or to remove a defender from the POA.
Back to the TE side we have a 3, 9 and 40 backer and a middle backer over the center. The corner is about 7 yards off.
the split side we have a 1,5 tech and 20 backer with the SS stacked on the 5 technique playing games trying to bait the QB into a give read and still tackle him with the stacked SS.
The secondary is playing loose man.
I know we can run the midline to the TE side but the Load is out unless they give us a 7 tech. I also like the counter OT back to the TE off sprint out backfield action.
What about lining up in twins and trading the TE over to the twins side? or just lining up in twins with the TE over to the twins side?
With a 3,9, and 40 backer to the te side run midline, g-belly, and outside veer would be my favorite. You will have 2 on 1 with the corner as the pitch read.
mg, Good call to the TE side. If you are set on running Veer to the Twins run the inside Veer and be aware of the automatic dissconnect with that End playing hard. Then run the Z on a Crack block to the SS and pitch off the FS. But the best thing to do is run the ball away from their numbers. You could also run a Veer play-action pass to the TE side and hit the quick seam by the TE. * The "arrow" is a 3-4yd deep parralel route to the LOS, almost a real shallow out which breaks off the ride steps, you could then have the fullback run an Arrow and Go or shallow Out & Up and have the twins run two verts to clear the CB and FS. But hey"I'm just a Line Coach." Matt
I also agree with "mg". The defense is taking away your twins side. It seems like they have the whole world over there. I would focus on running the ball to the TE side, with either outside veer, midline, power, Iso or End Iso.
if the team is always playing that game with end and strong safety, you should practice reading the area with the QB. He doesn't just read the end, he reads both players. If either one steps up on the dive, you pull and proceed with your pitch read. Also, coach campbell's bump wall scheme should be effective.

Why run the IV into that defense. Sounds like you have the middle of the field open. Hit a post, crossing route. Make them put the safety back to the middle of the field.
