Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We switch our olbs, indicating a strong and weak side olb. Our reason for this is two fold. Our strong side olb does not have the best speed but has great reads and will fill. Our weak side olb is faster and can get off blockers faster. At the beginning of the seaon we didn't have them switch sides but the faster of the two olbs was always getting caught in the wrong place. So with his speed, we put him on the backside and have slowed his reads down. Luckily we can do this b/c his speed makes up for the slowness of his reads. I personally think it is best to keep them where they are but when you have certain situations like ours, you have to do what is best and just adapt. Good Luck...Coach Smith
This is the first yeare have not flip flopped them -- I love it. Our better player is on our left (right handed offensive tendencies). by not switching, it is just one more thing we do not have to worry about before the ball is snapped. I would rather them be comfortable and recognize tendencies before the snap instead of running to the other side.
We play a boundary and field Spur -- we only have one that is physical and tough enought to play this position, so we "hide" the other into the boundary. If ball is between the goal post, my better Spur goes to our left.
Thanks, we've been leaving ours as well, liz, mike, and rip backers. also moving the spurs- (stud and whip) according to strengths.
Now, if you're leaving them there, how are you calling the 2 strong side backers to blitz, since you don't know which one is the strong side until the offense leaves the huddle. we're progressing as a defense to this point, and i'm not sure how to put in this blitz without confusing them.
